HAZEL STICK Version 1.3 (4-8-23) is out!


I fixed the version numbering, it makes sense now. All is well. 

Also the turn order finally exists. This was an idea for the base game but it seemed like too much effort until now.


[NEW FEATURES]

  • TURN ORDER: You can now see who gets to move next.
    • The current and next 4 turns are shown on the top of the screen.
    • Turn order prediction is affected by SPEED, certain Sticks and certain Spells.
    • The prediction adjusts if the currently selected spell would change the turn order.
    • Hazel's turns after the next assume the use of Normal Attacks.
    • The Enemy is always assumed to use Normal Attacks, so they might change the turn order suddenly.
  • BEAST ADDED: There is now a Beast #52
    • Only appears in The Sideway.  (Beast #37 appears there less often now)
    • Base stats are maximum ATK/SPD and minimum HP/MAG. (Befriend to have the only missing set of min-maxed stats)
    • This Beast doesn't have a Stick. (maybe someday...)

[OTHER CHANGES]

  • Edits to Battles:
    • Toasty and other "per turn" Spells have their power lowered from 75% to 70%. (toned them back just a tad.)
    • Turn costs now have less effect on Bosses (fixed Bosses getting 4 turns in a row by escaping Sticky/Sleepy)
    • Different sparks now fly from Hazel/Beasts when hit depending on resistance, weakness and/or critical (visual indicator for such events)
    • Hazel has new frames for acting and getting hit. (Beasts could too but that would take a long time...)
    • Enemy EXP is now shown in yellow if its enough to Level Up. (this is important for Wither Mode)
    • ATK/MAG/SPD stats have been moved to the right a bit. (so that high numbers fit better.)
    • Your chance to learn Spells/get x2 EXP is now shown when its been changed. (telling the player things is good)
    • Fixed Stick #52 not working on Beast #51.

  • Edits to the world:
    • Maximum enemy Level in Fertile Fields changed from 8 to 7. (too high for early game)
    • Minimum enemy Level in Tomb of Doom changed from 75 to 85. (finally fixed this mistake)
    • Minimum enemy Level in a super secret area changed from 100 to 101.
    • Beast #38 now appears in Dusty Dome and Spicy Sublevel. (furthering an elaborate joke)
    • Swapped the locations of Stick #12 and Stick #41. (now you can easily have #41 on hand for the GUYLAND Boss)
    • Walking into unwalkable terrain now makes a sound. (navigation assistance)
    • Rewrote Tip #31 to clean up text. (now it says "damage" once instead of "dmg" twice)
    • Changed Tips #32 and #36 to refer to ['per turn' effects] instead of [poisons]. (should make more sense now)
    • Rewrote Tip #45 to make it more clear. (describing exactly what that Stick's secret effect is)
    • Retconned some lore. (4th sign in the final area)
    • Added some lore. (look at the battle backgrounds)
  • Edits to menus:
    • You can now access the Options menu from the Title Menu. (only affects New Game)
    • Map pins are now placed/removed with [0]/(L). (fixed accidentally pinning restrees)
    • Map icons are now toggled with [1]/(R). (previous button is now the Pin button)
    • You can no longer Save while moving. (fixed being misaligned from the grid when loading such saves)
    • New Game+ and Wither Mode are now started by pressing [Esc]/(Start). (can do on controller now)
    • Controllers can now activate Wither Mode by pressing (Select). (credits note this too)
    • Fixed an "it's" in the credits being capitalised. (I don't know why I ever thought it worked like that)
    • You can now press [F11] to toggle the Screen Size. (because that's what the F11 key usually does)

Older versions are still available and now marked with the version numbers they should have had.
